Abby competes in Hoover, AL for the USATF Nationals Junior Olympic Championships, with accomplishing major hurdles in getting here.

Today, we’re supporting Abby Melican as she competes in the USATF National Junior Olympic Championships, held in Hoover, AL. Where Abby finished 44th place overall out of 146 with the time of 21:17.25.

Abby was the only Benswic runner among on the team to make it, Abby represented us all very well. This creates an amazing momentum to our program. Because just 2015 Abby was entering her first Cross Country until it came to an end with injuries. With this success, it doesn’t only speak promise for Abby but everyone on the team.

The time has come with a new track club, some new to cross country, 3 practices a week, competitive competitions all balled up to this moment. The Championship meet to qualify to Regional 1 then to Nationals. Though most of my runners qualified to Regional 1, unfortunately, we are unable to go.

First Meet as a Benswic Track Club

The Benswic boys and girls cross country teams both came out on Sunday’s USATF XC #1 meet ready to perform.

Last year cross country season we were running under a different name “Fuse Academy” and with 4 runners. Today we’re officially known as Benswic |bens,wik|. We already feel like a team, our runners are focus and ready to prove to themselves they can compete with whomever.
