With the new season of USATF XC starting up, Benswic Track Club came out today running amazingly from runners who competed yesterday in Bloomfield, CT; to those who are to the team. Great times along with some PR’s from the boys and from the girls. To start us off on the Girls side – Elizabeth Melican performed good despite competing in her first cross country meet and with the “Cemetery Hill” which she expressed she didn’t like. 🙁 Placing her 40th with the time of 17:11.55 (PR).
Followed by Sophie Ahmad (11/12) who’s no stranger to the team, but it is her first cross country season, finishing 30th with the time of 14:59.41 (PR).
Edith O’Meara also had an outstanding performance, dropping more then 2mins off her last years time (20:36.32), to running 18:34.8 (PR). Wow!!!
Abigail Melican (15/16), finishing 4th overall with the time of 23:18.26. A great start of the season, this time last year Abby ran a 24:27. We have high hopes for her this season!
Now on the boys side, Xavier Weir (7/8) ran the Novice mile in 9:47.72 (PR) a personal record from his previous time. Followed by Christopher Marshall and Tristan Bricker both 9/10 had another amazing performance aiming to run much faster from yesterdays meet. Christopher knocking off 34sec off his time running 13:21.58, placing 14th place. Though Tristan did not run his fastest, he made know that he ran the mess out of the hill! Leaving an impression that he still had fun and not disappointed.
Our 11/12 Boys had an amazing run, literally finishing back to back from each other. AMAZING! David O’Meara coming in first for the team, finishing 31st place with the time of 13:37.74 (PR); Joseph Melican who shattered his last year time, finishing 33rd with the time of 13:41.07. Right behind him was Emmanuel Marshall finishing 34th with the time of 13:44.18.
Benswic will compete next weekend, Saturday September 30th – USATF New York Cross Country Series – Meet #2 at Van Cortlandt Park or Sunday October 1st – AAU FALL XC CLASSIC at Cunningham Park
Fresh Meadows, NY.
