Benswic Track and Field Team, concludes weekend with more record performances. Our new comers have done their part as well. Amazing performance from everyone!

Benswic – Heading into it’s second meet of the outdoor season, Benswic Track Club boy’s and girl’s track and field program put together yet another impressive showing.

 

We had several new comers join the team and competed in their first competitive meet. Starting with our 8 and under Naomi Feldman running in the 200m with the time of 39.78 (PR), 400m 1:33.57 (PR) and 800m 3:46.01 (PR), all with shocking times. Joined by Egypt Boyd running her first 400m in the time of 1:18.75 (PR).

For the rest of the team that aren’t new created some noise being that some struggled during the Indoor Season and this ONLY being the second meet of the season. Though it’s to early to say, a few are looking like they will be contenders during the qualifiers, to qualify to Regional 1 Champs!

 

At Icahn Stadium, Christopher Marshall (9-10) ran an amazing open 400m, winning his heat with the time of 1:12.58 (PR) knocking off 4sec from last years open 400m. What an amazing run by him! Christopher also had an amazing run in the open 200m with the time of 30.59 (PR). Yasiin Bacchas (11-12) competed in the 400m with the time of 1:12.09 (PR) and the Long Jump 14′ 2.5 (PR). Where Emmanuel Marshall competed in the 200m with the time of 30.51 (PR), Shot Put with the throw of 18′ 11.25 (PR) and the Long Jump with the Jump of 13′ 2.75 (PR).

David O’Meara (11-12) competed in the 200m with a time of 36.56 (PR), 400m with a time of 1:22.67 and the Long Jump 10’11.

On the girls side, starting off with Bryana Marshall (15-16) who hasn’t had much action during the Indoor Season and has shown what hard training looks like. Bryana was the highlight on the girls side. She competed in the open 200m in a time of 27.35, placing 3rd overall and the 400m in a time of 1:03.80, placing 5th overall. Lillian McConnell (9-10) improving her 200m with a time of 36.62 (PR), and did her best in the 400m despite not liking to run it…with the time of 1:45.34 (PR); and in the Long Jump, jumping 8′ 0.75 (PR). ZaQiyah Bacchas (9-10) posted great results in the Long Jump with the jumps of 6′ 2.75 (PR), 200m with the time of 37.04 and 400m with the time of 1:21.41.

The time has come with a new track club, some new to cross country, 3 practices a week, competitive competitions all balled up to this moment. The Championship meet to qualify to Regional 1 then to Nationals. Though most of my runners qualified to Regional 1, unfortunately, we are unable to go.
